What's New...

I've added a new cookbook ("The Everything Cooking For Two Cookbook") and some new recipes - Pro for now, but I hope to have some new amateur recipes soon. I now have enough professional recipes that I've archived the old ones, so the Professional link shows you the latest recipes and you can follow links from there to the archived stuff.

I'm also thinking about adding a page just for food storage tips and tricks.  Let me know what you think.

Hi!  I'm Karen.  Welcome to the site that's dedicated to small-size cooking; where everything here is for people who want no more than one or two servings.

I'm making this up as I go along, but here's what I've got on the site so far:

  • Recipes from the Professionals - a brief description, main ingredients, any rating provided with the recipe and a link to that recipe on another website.  These are recipes created by someone else (chefs), and I'd be violating copyright laws if I had the recipe here.
  • Recipes from the Rest of Us - a brief description, unusual or main ingredients, a rating (eventually) and a link to the recipe here on this website.  These are recipes provided by me or you to be shared here.
  • Cookbooks - title, author, year published, any ratings, and one or more links to a place to purchase it.
  • Equipment - cookware, gadgets, appliances - all those things we need that the rest of the world can find in any department store.  A description, maybe a picture, any ratings I can find, and links to one or more suppliers (if I can find suppliers - I'm still looking for a 6-inch glass pie plate.)
  • Tips - brilliant brainstorms that solve some of our "down-sizing" problems.
  • Conversion Tables - when your recipe says "2/3 cup" and "serves six".

Remember, this site is always being constructed so please bear with me.  I'll probably be adding more pages, and I know I want to add the ability to search the recipes by different criteria.  I also plan on adding in the ability for you to rate a tart pan, or add a tip, or comment on a recipe - but that's going to be a while yet.

We're all in this together, and the more information we can share the easier and more fun cooking is going to be for us.  E-mail me (karen@solocooking.com) if you've got any suggestions or find any problems, and especially if you have information to add and share.

Thanks.  I hope to hear from you soon.
